My name is Nannie van Berkel, and on this website you’ll find my photography work featuring horses and people. What drives me is character and the way someone or something reveals itself in a moment. No forced poses — just genuine interaction. Take a look around, let the images speak to you, and feel free to get in touch if you’d like to know more.
With my photography, I capture those moments — small, unexpected, sometimes almost surreal, and often the details you might otherwise overlook, but that are very much there.
Thanks to my many years of experience with horses, including at international competition level, I’ve learned how they move, how to read their character, and how they respond. I bring that knowledge into my photography. I don’t just see the image itself, but also what lies beneath it — energy, tension, and personality. That allows me to truly capture character, both in stillness and in action.
I work with people in the same way: attentive, unhurried, and with space for someone to simply be themselves. Only when someone feels comfortable does something real emerge — and that is exactly what I’m looking for.
